“Chalk It Up!”, a free family arts festival, is returning for its 13th year. This year’s festival will be held Friday, September 19, 5 pm-8:30 pm and Saturday, September 20, 9 am-6 pm throughout Broken Arrow’s Main Street Rose District.
“Chalk It Up” celebrates art, local artists and community creativity. It brings together professional artists and new emerging artists on the same level.
The main chalk art competition event includes more than 50 artists of all ages creating 10’x10’ chalk art masterpieces on the street over the two days. All artists are competing for cash prizes. Chalk artists will finish their drawings by 2pm on Saturday for judging. All awards will be presented at 4 pm on Saturday.
The “Chalk It Up!” festival runs concurrently with the Rose Festival, which features a rose show, kids zone, and garden experts. These events include nearly 50 local artist vendors selling their original handmade art, local food trucks and a community gallery art contest held in Arts@302. The charming Rose District provides an engaging setting plus local shops and restaurants, and during Saturday morning, the Rose District Farmers Market will add even more ways to enjoy the events.
The festival weekend will also include live entertainment from local music favorites including Home Skillet and The Hi-Fi Hillbillies and local community performance organizations.
