March 2000 During the course of a lifetime, most people are obliged to seek legal advice or service at one point or another. Finding a good lawyer can sometimes be a daunting task. You will want an attorney who is not only competent but also comfortable to talk to. Mark Bransford, attorney at law, is known as being “aggressive, yet fair,” to all parties involved. Bransford has been in practice for over 13 years, and is a trial attorney in four main areas: Personal injury, employment discrimination, business law and bankruptcy. Bransford, who enjoys working with people and helping them to solve their legal problems, finds personal injury work particularly rewarding. “People pay their insurance premiums every month, or every six months, and the insurance company has a duty to pay back some of the money that it takes in…and unfortunately they don’t always seem willing to want to do that.” Bransford comments that if insurance companies would do their job fairly all the time and pay claims promptly, there would most likely be very little personal injury litigation. Many people are intimidated by the thought of hiring an attorney, but it can save a lot of grief in the long run. Personal injury victims often have enough to worry about without having to deal with continual challenges to their insurance claim. “It’s a lot better if a client comes in early on in the case, because I can tell them what to do, what not to do and how to handle themselves. A lot of people who handle their cases by themselves make it a lot harder to resolve with the insurance companies. This is usually because there are certain things to do, and not do, when you are involved in an automobile wreck.” Consulting an attorney right from the beginning most generally makes the whole situation easier all the way around. Employment law is another area in which people are sometimes reluctant to consult an attorney. “More times than not, people will not file an employment claim even when they should, because people think it reflects badly on their employment record to sue their employers. However, employers are under certain obligations in relation to federal law and discrimination cases,” explains Mark. Bransford works each case himself. Receptionist Cydnie Rowe and legal assistant Jean Fishwick are invaluable assistants to the practice. Bransford received his Bachelors in Business Administration from Texas Christian University and Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas Law School. He is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, Tulsa County Bar Association, American Trial Lawyer Association and Oklahoma Trial Lawyer Association. Bransford’s offices are located in the Beacon Building at 406 S. Boulder in downtown Tulsa. One of the advantages to the office location is that the entire fourth floor of the Beacon Building is made up of attorneys that all work in varying aspects of the law. Referrals between the attorneys are very common. Initial consultations are free of charge. If you are in need of legal advice or legal services, call Mark Bransford during office hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. For more information, contact Mark Bransford Bransford & Associates, P.
