Eager for the sight of budding flowers and lovely gardens? Tulsa Garden Club warmly invites you to its 65th annual Garden Tour, Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring four wonderful mid-town Tulsa residential gardens that will spotlight a wide selection of annuals, perennials, succulents and water features – creatively planned and displayed, and adaptable for home gardens of any size and budget – from containers to impressive beds of blooming colors!
This year’s tour incorporates visits to the home gardens located at 2932 Woodward Blvd., 1818 E. 43rd St., 3030 S. Yorktown, and 2618 E. 40th St. Tickets to the event are $10 each and can be purchased starting April 10 through April 24 at the Tulsa Garden Center, located at 2435 S. Peoria, or at any of the four homes on the tour Saturday, April 25.

Honorary Chair of this year’s tour is well-known local landscape designer Breniss O’Neal, and current president of Tulsa Garden Club is Judith Carter. Tickets for the special “Patrons’ Party” on Friday evening, April 24 are also available, starting at just $65 per person, and include not only the evening party but also a private tour of the host gardens for patrons on Saturday morning.

Since 1929, the Tulsa Garden Club has developed from a garden study club to an active civic organization with objectives to study and advance the art of gardening, horticulture, floral design, landscape design and environmental sciences. Many members have served in leadership roles in the community and throughout National Garden Clubs, Inc., and several have also become Master Gardeners or Linnaeus Gardeners, providing information and services to the public. Others are qualified as judges for regional and national flower shows, or are instructors for various classes and programs at the Tulsa Garden Center for members and the public. Tulsa Garden Club membership is open to all interested in sharing these objectives.

As a voluntary, educational organization, the club’s other contributions to the greater Tulsa community include: annual funding of the Tulsa Garden Center, Inc.; furnishing rose plants to the Tulsa Municipal Rose Garden; helping organize other garden clubs throughout the Tulsa area; working with elementary schools in youth gardening projects; supporting poster contests in Tulsa schools; staging standard flower shows that are free and open to the public (the next of which is May 9-10 at the Tulsa Garden Center); awarding annual scholarships to landscape architecture and horticulture students at Oklahoma State University and Tulsa Community College; supporting an Up With Trees plot; fostering ongoing conservation and roadside beautification projects; and presenting its major fundraising event, the annual Garden Tour.
