To most people, the large gray metal building off 169 North and 136th Street in Collinsville was just another vacant manufacturing site. To Sean and Rustin Draper and James and Lea Ann
Dugger, it was exactly what they had envisioned for the perfect athletic performance training facility.

As their children progressed in their chosen sports fields, the two families traveled to sports camps and training facilities across the country. They noted the best ideas from each of them and learned every aspect of the recruiting process as they held on to the dream of opening a complete sports facility someday. The four to five trips a week to Tulsa convinced the Collinsville natives that their dream facility really needed to be in the Collinsville/Owasso area.

In August of last year, they opened Elite Athlete Development, a 25,000-square-foot, turfed performance training center, baseball and softball indoor facility and 24/7 gym and fitness center. Elite provides everything, under one roof, to develop the complete athlete any time of year, on or off the court or field.

Just a few months since opening their doors, the families are overwhelmed by the reception they have received from the sports community. Elite’s performance training, which focuses on speed, agility, power and strength, is led by Carlos Velasquez, a former college athlete and personal trainer.

Carlos develops and implements the programs at Elite. The training sessions lasting one hour focus on encouraging athletes to get bigger, faster, stronger in a small group or team setting. The programs, ranging from six-year–old beginners to professionals, are all based on a proven, successful philosophy that is designed to help athletes not only achieve their goals, but reach even higher levels of athletic development.

“Our mission is to see athletes get better, reach goals, and excel at their chosen sport. When the athletes that train with us are successful, we are successful,” says Rustin. Students from Collinsville, Owasso, Booker T. Washington, Claremore, Bartlesville, Skiatook, Oologah, Kiefer, Bixby and Rejoice train at the center. Elite has become the training facility for college and professional athletes that need to stay at the top of their game during their off season.
Elite partners with Mike Million of Ignite Nutrition to present nutrition classes that are open to anyone who wants to eat better and feel better and stronger. Mike is widely recognized in this region for his nutrition expertise. He is available for consultation to design a plan that is sport, body type, age and gender specific, and that coordinates with the athlete’s training program.
The baseball and softball facility features two retractable batting cages, a pitching machine, L-screens, a C-shape softball screen, two hitting T’s, backdrops, and top-of-the-line baseballs and softballs. An additional turfed infield area can be used for team training.

Parents are encouraged to stay while their children train. There is a comfortable viewing room to watch the progress. Mothers can enroll in a ladies’ boot camp or yoga classes. The gym and fitness center features treadmills, an elliptical, free weights, and Life Fitness and Hammer Strength machines. Personal training, individual strength programs and team training can be arranged. Members can train, stay in shape and get stronger at their convenience and schedule with 24/7 access.

Elite Athlete Development offers various price packages for individuals, families and teams. Police and fire personnel, veterans and those 55 and up receive a discount.
