“I would like to extend a big ‘thank you’ to all the residents of Rogers County who recently helped make the 100th year Rogers County Fair a rousing success,” said Ron Burrows, vice president of the Fair Board and general manager of the Claremore Expo Center. Ron has been a Fair Board member, which is an elected position, for the past 11 years. “The fair’s attendance has grown to approximately 20,000 people. We have a wonderful group of committed Fair Board members who each have played a huge role in the fair’s substantial growth.”
Ron’s personal contribution to the fair’s success was his devoted effort to bring a carnival back to the fair. “The fair did not have a carnival for years. I dedicated about six years to finding a carnival that was available during the time of our fair in September. I was very proud to reach that goal, and I believe it has been key in attracting more and more Rogers County families to the fair every year.”
Mr. Burrows believes his tenure on the Fair Board is an excellent example of what can be accomplished when elected officials work together to creative positive changes for Rogers County. “Our economy is healthy – I see a lot of great things on the horizon for our county,” he adds.
His accomplishments on the Fair Board, as well his 30+ year work history, provides Ron with a solid foundation for success as he runs as Republican candidate for Rogers County Commissioner District 3.
The position of county commissioner involves not only overseeing the construction of roads and bridges, but also inspecting and improving county programs and facilities, supervising financial affairs of the county, developing personal policies, making agreements affecting the welfare of the citizens, and much, much more. According to the Agricultural Economics Extension, “As the chief fiscal entity of the county…the Board of County Commissioners is in charge of receiving and expending funds, and, therefore, must make major financial decisions and transactions, prepare budgets, award contracts, and act on claims.”
Ron Burrows’ number one goal as District 3 Rogers County Commissioner would be maintaining fiscal responsibility. “The person elected to this position is responsible for millions of dollars in taxpayers’ money, and I want Rogers County citizens to know that their tax dollars are truly at work for them.”
Ron’s extensive work history includes road construction, employee and budget management, and public service. He has managed the Claremore Expo Center for the past five years, which has seen much growth and improvement under his leadership.
Ron is also highly committed to his community. In addition to the Fair Board, he is a member of numerous other local organizations including the Claremore Convention & Visitors Bureau, Claremore Reveille Rotary Club, Leadership Rogers County, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma. “I am able to facilitate and be part of open, positive communication with a multitude of groups to achieve goals. I will work together with other elected officials to accomplish great things for Rogers County.”
