As fall comes into focus, families are preparing to send kids back to school. For children who wear glasses, this means it is time to endure the annual update to their prescription and select new frames – an often stressful and disappointing experience. However, there is one place in Claremore that will bring a new outlook to such trying eye appointments. Advanced Vision Center and Eyewear Boutique is likely to have children (and parents) looking forward to getting new glasses for the rest of their lives.

Offering the best selection, technology and care at affordable rates, Dr. Overtstreet-Hogle and her staff pride themselves on setting a new standard for pediatric optometry. While in college, Dr. Overstreet-Hogle specialized in pediatric optometry; so, it is no surprise her clinic boasts some special features that make kids feel at ease with their experience.

Upon entering the eyewear boutique, customers are awestruck by the bright, open layout and their gaze is immediately drawn to a zebra in the middle of the lobby. Obviously, this is not a typical vision center. But, before customers can even approach the zebra for a closer look, they are greeted by staff. The vibe is cheery, not stuffy. Laughing is commonplace in the lobby as customers peruse the displays of stylish frames, handpicked by Dr. Overstreet-Hogle. A few customers sit at colorful tables (hand-painted by the doctor and her mother) to try on potential favorites.

Beyond the tables and displays is a kids’ corner with games, magazines and a DVD player to keep young ones occupied. There is a wide selection of children’s frames to choose from, ranging from popular brands to discounts at the bargain table. But catering to kids doesn’t stop in the lobby.

Parents will be pleased to see Dr. Overstreet-Hogle has taken the same thoughtful approach to the exam room. Her love of the latest technology, and ability to use it, shines when it comes to pediatric optometry. Using a computer-based projector, the standard letter-based chart instantly switches to shapes. Even if a child is still uncomfortable with the ABCs, working through vision charts is stress-free.

The common thread that ties all the resources and technology together, of course, is Dr. Overstreet-Hogle herself. Leading by example, she and her team are welcoming, professional and thorough.

Known for working long hours, she admits she has poured herself into making Advanced Vision Center an extension of her personality. She is always on the lookout for art and objects to decorate her store. “I love my job. I spend 90 percent of my time at this store,” she explains, adding that she strives to make Advanced Vision Care as fun and comfortable as possible.
Most of the staff have been with her for years, and are extremely helpful when it comes to answering questions about various lenses and frames. “We’re like a bunch of sisters,” she says of her staff. “And, with all the relationships I build with my customers, it’s not work.”
At Advanced Vision Center, customers will discover that choosing glasses or contacts doesn’t need to be work, either. Children and adults can count on the highest quality of care, the most stylish of frames and an environment that encourages them to explore all their options. There is no doubt everyone who visits Dr. Abby Overstreet-Hogle will leave with a smile on their face. And, thanks to her and the excellent staff, customers will be able to clearly see why.

The time is perfect to schedule an appointment for back-to-school glasses. Advanced Vision Center and Eyewear Boutique is located at 860 S. Lynn Riggs Blvd. Visit them online at or on Facebook.
