It’s time to win some big bucks with the 8th annual Santa Cash campaign, presented by the Claremore Chamber of Commerce. “Santa Cash is our way of thanking Claremore residents for keeping their holiday dollars in the community,” says Dell Davis, chamber president. “This year we have returned to awarding a grand prize of $10,000, along with two prizes of $2,500 and $1,500.”

Last year, the grand prize was $5,000. “With the larger cash amount, I think even more people will be excited to participate,” says Julie Adams, Regional Manager/ Assistant VP for 1st Bank Oklahoma and committee chair for the event.

Santa Cash begins at noon Friday, November 12 and ends at noon Friday, December 17. The drawings will be held Saturday, December 18 at 11 a.m. at the Grandstands at Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs, 20900 S. 4200 Rd. in Claremore. To join in the fun, simply ask for a ticket at any participating retailer, bank, restaurant, service provider or specialty store. No purchase is necessary. For every $10 spent, however, you’ll receive an additional ticket. “Someone can walk into a business, not spend a dime, and still win a prize,” says Dell. A complete list of participating businesses can be found online at www.claremore.org.

Dell and Julie say it is very important to hold onto your tickets and come out the day of the event – otherwise you could miss out on winning $10,000 or $2,500. “The past couple of years, the first tickets we drew were not claimed,” explains Julie.

To make the event even better, cookies and hot cocoa will be available for purchase. They’ve also added extra security to keep the traffic flowing and make parking easier.

For those who are unable to attend the drawing on December 18, the opportunity is available to win a $1,500 cash prize. A total of four ticket numbers will be drawn. The first number will be listed in the Claremore Daily Progress and on the Chamber of Commerce website, and the winner will have one week to respond. If there is no response, the next number will be posted, and so on. If none of the tickets are claimed in the four weeks, the money goes to next year’s winnings.

Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs, the “Santa Sponsor,” is hosting the $10,000 prize. The $2,500 prize was sponsored by “Mrs. Claus Sponsor” Suburban Chevrolet. “Reindeer Sponsors” include Bank of Commerce, 1st Bank Oklahoma, Grand Bank, RCB Bank, TTCU the Credit Union, Walmart, Claremore Daily Progress and Claremore Chamber of Commerce.

“Elves” – participants in Santa Cash – include Archer’s Dry Cleaners, Atwoods, Bill & Ruth’s of Claremore, Carl’s Coney Island, Claremore Compounding Pharmacy, Claremore Tire & Auto Repair, Plum Gold Jewelers, Stanley's Get-It-Today, T & Co.
