The Tulsa Performing Arts Center Trust’s Brown Bag It free noontime concert series on select Wednesdays at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center is back with another exciting line-up. The popular series, which was established in the early 1980s, is once again returning to the first Wednesday of every month, with the exception of January. Vocalist Janet Rutland kicks off the 2017-18 Brown Bag It season. Janet is equally comfortable singing Hank Williams or Johnny Mercer. Rutland will be accompanied by pianist Spencer Sutton for a set of vintage pop, jazz and country music. The mission of the series is to offer the community an opportunity to visit the Performing Arts Center facility and hear quality musical presentations. Audiences are invited to bring and eat lunch during the concerts, creating an informal atmosphere. Likewise, the musicians are encouraged to “inform” as well as perform by giving background information or program notes during the concert, breaking down the barriers between performer and audience. Each concert lasts 40 minutes. Concert Schedule First Wednesday from 12:10pm - 12:50pm Tulsa Performing Arts Center – Westby Pavilion Free and family friendly! You're invited to join us on Saturday, April 28, for Celebrating the Art of Healing. Celebrating the Art of Healing is an annual day of hope and inspiration for cancer survivors and the families, friends, and medical professionals who care for them. The 2018 program will feature a keynote address by Paige Davis, a cancer survivor, author, and entrepreneur who embraces cancer through the lens of love. She will share tangible lessons learned and tools that helped her integrate her mind, body, and spirit and discover the unexpected awakening of intuition, open-heartedness, and compassion in the healing journey. Celebrating the Art of Healing was designed to promote healthy behaviors and highlight activities that enrich the quality of life for those who face the challenges of cancer. With breakout sessions on a variety of topics, local professionals help participants access the unique potential of the human spirit. Newly diagnosed patients, those currently in treatment, long-time survivors, caregivers, and health care professionals join together as a community on this day to celebrate the healing power of survivorship in our daily lives.
